Shoulder surgery

Shoulder surgery is a more recent branch of surgery that has taken off with the development and refinement of imaging procedures (MRI and arthro-MRI), involving minimal invasive arthroscopic interventions, replacement shoulders and rehabilitation methods.

Diseases in the shoulder region can be divided into three groups:
  • inflammations of the tendons (tendinitis) or ligaments (capsulitis)
  • trauma-related fractures, dislocations or nerve injuries
  • tendon wear in the area of the rotator cuffs with a risk of rupture or cartilage defects followed by osteoarthritis
The shoulder is a complex joint; shoulder pain is now increasingly widespread.

Anatomical and inverse shoulder replacements nowadays constitute routine surgical procedures. Rehabilitation programmes help improve postoperative function.
