Craig S. Markovitz is an Entrepreneur in Residence in the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship and a Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He was also the inaugural Prosser Mellon Fellow at the Richard King Mellon Foundation. Markovitz is co-founder of Blue Belt Technologies, Inc., a spinoff from the Robotics Institute at CMU and served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer for over 7 years. In this capacity, he launched the company, raised capital, managed operations, and led a January 2011 merger with HealthpointCapital.  He then transitioned to Chief Operating Officer and helped to lead substantial growth of the company from pre-revenue and 18 employees to multi-million in revenue and 150 employees.  Markovitz was a key member of the deal team that led to an acquisition by Smith and Nephew, plc in January 2016 for $275,000,000. In addition, Markovitz was Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Spotlight Medical, Inc.  Spotlight was a spinoff company based on technology developed jointly by Carnegie Mellon University and The University of Pittsburgh.  He managed this company to a successful exit as well.  Prior to founding Blue Belt and Spotlight, Craig worked with The Redleaf Group, Inc., a $285 million early-stage venture capital fund, as the Chief Operating Officer of PenNetWorks, LLC at the University of Pennsylvania. He was the recipient of the 2019 Junior Achievement of Western PA Spirit of Enterprise Award for Entrepreneurial Achievement, the 2016 Carnegie Science Center Entrepreneur and the 2016 Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association Outstanding Entrepreneur Awards. Markovitz graduated with distinction from the MBA program at the Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in Entrepreneurship and graduated cum laude from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA, with a BA in Management.  He lives in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife and family.

Olivier Michielin holds a Master's degree in physics from EPFL and a Federal Diploma in Medicine from UNIL, which he obtained in 1997. He then joined the laboratory of Martin Karplus, the future winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, at the universities of Harvard and Stasbourg, where he worked on modelling the TCR-peptide-MHC complex, obtaining an MD-PhD in 2001. On his return to Switzerland, he joined the SIB - Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics as group leader in the field of molecular modelling. At the same time, he trained in medical oncology at the CHUV. 

Appointed assistant professor at UNIL's Faculty of Biology and Medicine in 2004, he became associate professor in 2011 and full professor in 2019. At the CHUV, he was successively appointed head of the melanoma clinic, assistant physician at the multidisciplinary oncology centre and, in 2016, head physician at the Precision Oncology Centre. In 2017, together with his colleagues at the HUG and the CHUV, he launched a joint molecular tumorboard between Geneva and Vaud, a clinical platform for discussing and interpreting complex molecular data to facilitate personalized patient management. 

A specialist in precision oncology, Olivier Michielin combines basic and clinical research, in particular to integrate "multi-omics" data to determine the optimal treatment for each patient and develop new immunotherapies. In October 2022, he was appointed full professor in the Department of Medicine at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine and head of the Department of Oncology at the HUG. He will also head the new Precision Oncology Service at the HUG and vice-coordinate the Centre for Translational Research in Onco-haematology (CRTOH) at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine. He has also been appointed Co-Director of the SCCL, the Swiss Cancer Centre for the Lake Geneva region. Together with Prof. Bodenmiller from Zurich, he heads the national SPHN precision oncology programme.
