It provides scheduled and emergency consultations, prenatal hospitalisation, deliveries from the 34th week of pregnancy and post-partum support for parents and their babies.

In 2022, in an serene atmosphere, more than 700 babies were born here.

Why choose the maternity at Générale-Beaulieu?

Our philosophy: to personalise your care by adapting to your needs and those of your baby.

Sart4Néo certified staff

Because every parent has the right to expect the best possible care when their child is born, the maternity ward's specialist staff and the paediatricians on duty have completed the Sart4Néo neonatal training course recommended by the Swiss Neonatal Society. They all obtained the Startneo - Basic Skills Course certificate. The Clinic thus becomes the first private establishment in French-speaking Switzerland to benefit from certified personnel, which enables it to maintain its level of excellence.

Health screening for your child - a unique opportunity

Childbirth offers a unique opportunity to take preventive health care for your child and the whole family.

Following the birth, we offer parents-to-be the opportunity to store stem cells from their child's umbilical cord.

In the only private biobank in Switzerland that has the important FACT-NetCord accreditation, these are stored safely and for the long term.

The birth

Arrival at the maternity ward

Our team of experienced midwives will welcome you in the delivery room 24 hours a day.
If you have any concerns, or before coming to the maternity ward, please do not hesitate to call:

+41 22 839 57 01

+41 22 839 57 02

A midwife will be with you throughout your labour and delivery. She will be attentive to your expectations, so do not hesitate to tell her about your wishes as you go along. Your gynaecologist will be informed of your arrival and will be present during the birth. He will remain in permanent contact with the midwife who is taking care of you.

Optimum monitoring of your baby's heart rate and contractions is possible thanks to our central monitoring system. If you wish to be mobilised, we can continue the monitoring thanks to the telemetry system (wireless monitoring).

Delivery

Our maternity hospital has created a calm and comfortable environment to accompany you in this wonderful adventure that is the birth of your child.

We share with you the joy and wonder of childbirth and do our utmost to make these unique moments special throughout your stay.

A nurse or midwife will welcome your baby, assess their adaptation and encourage skin-to-skin contact from the moment they are born. They are also trained in neonatal resuscitation according to the recommendations of the Swiss Society of Neonatology in order to provide first aid in case of need.

An anaesthetist is on call 24 hours a day. He intervenes if necessary or at your request.

The paediatrician of your choice or, if necessary, the paediatrician on duty, will be informed and will come to examine your baby. They will follow up your baby during your stay.

After the birth

We do our utmost to ensure that the birth of your child is a unique experience and that your stay meets your expectations. A nurse or a midwife will take care of you and your baby.

Comprehensive mother-child care

Every day, a midwife or a nurse will assess the effects of your delivery or caesarean section and provide you with the necessary care.

She will check on the physiological development of your baby after your delivery (vaginal or caesarean), carry out the usual monitoring of your baby, help you with his daily care (changing, washing, etc.) and assist you with his feeding (maternal or artificial). She will accompany you for your hygiene care according to your needs.

Your baby's care is carried out in the morning so that the care can be adapted according to the parameters (weight, temperature, bilirubin (blood test), etc.).

During your stay, your baby will have

- a hearing test (painless)
- a Guthrie-test from the third day onwards (taking a few drops of blood from the heel)

By listening to you and being available, she will accompany you in your new role as a mother while respecting your needs, as well as those of your baby.

A first class hotel service

A care assistant takes care of your meal orders, organises your one-to-one meal, and takes care of your environment (making up the bed, changing the towels, supplying the necessary equipment, etc.). They also answer your calls as often as possible in order to limit your waiting time.

The hotel team is responsible for the maintenance of your room and the serving of your meals, and also responds to your requests for snacks during the day. You can call them directly using the dedicated bell on the telephone.

A photo session with your baby

During your stay, we offer you a free photo session with a professional photographer (no obligation to buy). A photo is offered to you in digital format. You can then decide whether or not you want the photo to be published in our Baby Gallery.

Two professional photographers work with the Maternity and are present on Mondays and Thursdays.
