Dr Alain Munier was born in Geneva in 1962. He is happily married with two children, and works as an ophthalmic surgeon. He is of both Swiss and Irish nationality, and bilingual in French and English. He earned his Medical degree in 1987, and was awarded his doctorate and FMH certification in ophthalmology in Geneva in 1995. He then completed a university fellowship in Dublin, Ireland, between 1995 and 1997, where he gained skills in paediatric ophthalmology and refractive surgery. He has passed the EBOD (European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma) exam, and he opened his ophthalmology practice in Geneva in 1998. He has served as President of the Doctors’ group at the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild since 2006, and also works as a duty ophthalmologist at the Service de Santé de la Jeunesse for the canton of Geneva.
