Urology is a medical-surgical discipline that deals with diseases of the kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra of all sexes.

Numerous diseases occur in this area, including bladder stones, kidney tumours, bladder tumours, prostate and testicular tumours, neurological bladder dysfunction and urinary tract infections.

In addition, urologists deal with dysfunctions of the male genital system, in particular infertility and erectile problems.

Comprehensive range of treatments

  • Evaluation and treatment of cancers of the kidneys, urinary bladder, prostate, penis and testicles
  • State-of-the-art prostate diagnostics (Artemis); fusion biopsy as part of prostate cancer prevention
  • Total removal of the prostate in cancer patients (radical prostatectomy)
  • Cancer lymph node removal
  • Robot-assisted keyhole surgery (Da Vinci®)
  • Endoscopic procedures (via urethra) including lasers, e.g. to treat benign prostate enlargement or kidney stones
  • Diagnosis and treatment of kidney stones and colic
  • Partial kidney removal (usually in the case of cancer) or total kidney removal (rarely required)
  • Assessment and treatment of problems with urinary continence in men and women
  • Corrections of urinary drainage (pyelonplasty, new ureter implantation)
  • Male sterilisation (vasectomy)
  • Procedures with the surgical microscope, including vasectomy reversal (vasosostomy)
  • Refertilisation
  • Investigation and treatment of male infertility
  • Male sexual disorders (e.g. erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation)

Urologiezentrum Bethanien

 

The Urologiezentrum Bethanien, under the direction of Drs Guido Tenti and Jörg Häufel, offers all the advantages of personal, individual care at the highest professional level, combined with the efficiency of a hospital. The centre consists of an association of hospital-accredited urologists and deals with the entire spectrum of urology – from diagnosis to medical treatment and surgical intervention to aftercare.

Each and every one of our highly qualified specialists contributes their own experience. Our team of experts for Da Vinci® robot procedures

The Da Vinci® Bethanien team is led by visceral surgeon Dr Daniel Christen, Medical Director and Chief Surgeon at Privatklinik Bethanien, and his colleagues from surgical urology, Dr Michael Kurz and Dr Guido Tenti, as well as from thoracic surgery, Dr Walter Weder. The four specialists in minimally invasive surgery have many years of experience with the Da Vinci® robot and are a well-coordinated team.
