Centre for Rheumatology

Rheumatology is a medical discipline that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of – mostly chronic – diseases from the rheumatic range. These now include around 400 diseases, whereby a distinction is made between chronic degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis and chronic inflammatory diseases.

Causes of non-inflammatory rheumatic diseases are usually signs of ageing, wear and tear or injuries. Most inflammatory rheumatic diseases are autoimmune diseases.

Our centre

RheumaClinic

At the RheumaClinic, an in-house joint practice, several rheumatologists, including Drs Pius Brühlmann, Sandra Blumhardt, Susanna Enderlin Steiger, Barbara Meier, Beat Michel and Stella Mollet look after patients with diseases of the joints, bones and soft tissues. The aim is to relieve pain and maintain or restore patient mobility.

The RheumaClinic offers the entire spectrum of rheumatology: treatment of osteoarthritis, crystal diseases, back diseases, systemic inflammatory diseases and osteoporosis. We also work closely with specialists from the fields of orthopaedics and neurosurgery.
