World Sight Day 2023

World Sight Day takes place on Thursday 12th October 2023, and this year the focus is on the importance of eye care in the workplace.

The aim is to help people understand the importance of protecting their sight in the workplace and to call on business leaders to prioritise the eye health of workers everywhere.

It is important to promote eye health habits that will benefit the well-being, safety and productivity of employees.

A few tips for looking after your eyes

20/20/20

Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look 20 metres away.

Moisten your eyes

Blink often to keep your eyes moist. If necessary, use eye drops.

Pay attention to the position of your screens

Adjust the position of your screen: ideally, it should be tilted 15-20° below eye level and at a distance of between 50 and 70 cm.

Adjust various settings on your screens

You can change the brightness, contrast, colour temperature and text size. These small adjustments can ease the strain on your eyes.

Optimise brightness

Position your screen to avoid reflections and try anti-glare screens or screen protectors.

Don't forget your glasses!

If you wear glasses or contact lenses to correct your eyesight, make sure you wear them as recommended by your ophthalmologist. Have your routine check-ups and discuss with your doctor any adjustments you need to make to reduce discomfort and tension.
