Pancreatic surgery

Pancreatic surgery deals with the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the pancreas.

The main focus of the treatment is the surgical treatment of malignant tumours of the pancreas, also known as pancreatic cancer.

Benign diseases of the pancreas include pancreatic alienocysts or pancreatitis, a chronic inflammation of the pancreas.

In order to treat the diseases of the pancreas properly, a wide range of pancreatic surgery procedures are available:

  • operation for acute inflammation of the pancreas
  • partial removal of the pancreas (pancreatic head resection)
  • removal of the pancreas (pancreatectomy)
  • pancreatic cancer surgery
  • pancreas transplantation

The aim of the procedure is to maintain the function of the pancreas and/or to completely remove damaged tissue and tumours.
