Nephrology is a medical field focused on kidney-related conditions and disorders. Nephrologists specialise in diagnosing and treating kidney dysfunction, such as chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, hereditary diseases, kidney infections and hypertension (high blood pressure) related to kidney problems.
With ongoing research, our nephrologists work to preserve kidney health, manage complications and improve a patient’s quality of life through personalised medical care.
In cases of advanced kidney failure or end-stage renal disease, dialysis treatment may be necessary. Dialysis is a process that filters the blood to remove waste products and excess fluids when the kidneys are no longer able to perform this function adequately.
Nephrologists often recommend dietary adjustments to manage conditions like kidney stones or chronic kidney disease. A tailored diet can help reduce kidney burden and maintain overall kidney health.
Nephrologists monitor and manage fluid and electrolyte levels in the body to ensure proper kidney function and prevent complications.
Adopting a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption and managing conditions like diabetes and hypertension can positively impact kidney health.
