Privatklinik Siloah performs its 500th VELYS operation and expands its range of robot-assisted services

Gümligen, 27 November 2025 – The  Privatklinik Siloah, a member of Swiss Medical Network, has reached an important milestone in orthopaedic surgery: the 500th operation using the robot-assisted VELYS system has been successfully performed. Since mid-October, a second VELYS system has also been in use, further increasing the capacity and availability of high-precision knee replacement surgery.

Greater precision – better results – fewer reoperations
The VELYS system enables patient-specific, robot-assisted knee replacement surgery with millimetre-precise implant positioning. This improves joint function, reduces the risk of malalignment and complications, and lowers the likelihood of reoperations in the long term – a benefit both for patients and for the cost-efficiency of the healthcare system.

Dr Daniel de Menezes, Medical Coordinator at the Siloah Private Clinic and specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology, explains: "With VELYS, we can insert total and partial prostheses with the utmost precision. The exact alignment leads to more stable results and often to faster rehabilitation."

Second VELYS system expands the range of services
With two VELYS systems operating in parallel, the Siloah Private Clinic can offer even more individualised therapy planning – from total endoprostheses to Sigma partial prostheses.

Cedric Bossart, Regional Director Mittelland, emphasises: "The investment in a second VELYS system underlines our commitment to combining state-of-the-art medical technology with personalised care. In this way, we are sustainably improving the quality of results and the satisfaction of our patients."

Pioneering role in robot-assisted endoprosthetics
Robot-assisted knee surgery is becoming increasingly popular in Switzerland as it enables more precise results and contributes to reducing healthcare costs by reducing complications. With two VELYS operating theatres, the Siloah Private Clinic is taking on a leading role in the further development of endoprosthetics.
