Glaucoma screening

International Glaucoma Week puts the spotlight on the disease, the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the world.

Swiss Visio is committed to preventing this disease by offering free screening tests.

Glaucoma is a degenerative disease that affects the optic nerve and is characterised by high intraocular pressure. This excessive pressure gradually damages the nerve fibres that connect the retina to the brain, leading to progressive loss of vision and, ultimately, blindness. Risk factors include age, heredity and other health problems (diabetes, hypertension, etc.).

Nicknamed "the vision thief", it can occur without any obvious symptoms at first, but if the disease is not detected and treated in time, it can lead to irreversible vision loss.

50% of sufferers worldwide remain undiagnosed. A check-up every 3 years is recommended from the age of 40.

That's why prevention through early screening is so important.
