Surgical frequency and indications for pelvic floor disease and inguinal hernia differ between men and women

As in other areas of medicine, surgery always takes better account of anatomical and functional differences between men and women. For example: «The surgical treatment of certain pelvic floor disorders predominantly concerns women, while for inguinal hernia problems the female gender is under-represented in relation to the male gender».
