The trend of surgical leg lengthening is emerging on social media. “It's dangerous to reduce everything to a 30-second video on Instagram,” comments Dr Ruben Mazzucchelli.

‘Height is half of beauty,’ as the famous saying goes. Leon Otremba, a 24-year-old German who became famous on social media for undergoing a particular surgical procedure twice, namely leg lengthening, certainly sees it that way.
The young man went from being 1.71 metres tall to 1.92 metres tall, undergoing surgery first in Turkey and then in Germany. However, more than six months after the second operation, he is still walking with crutches.
