A graduate of the Xavier Bichat Faculty of Medicine in Paris in 1991, he trained in general surgery and subsequently in cardiothoracic surgery. He obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1996 and a PhD in Experimental Surgery in 2000, and also conducted research at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital.
He spent most of his career in London as Professor of Thoracic Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, where he became a recognized expert in the treatment of pleural mesothelioma. In 2020, he moved to establish a pleural mesothelioma program at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec.
