The knee is one of the most complex and most heavily used joints in our body. For good reason: it constantly bears our weight whenever we are standing, which represents two thirds of our lifetime.
As a result, it tends to wear out faster and more than most of our other joints, leading to what are known as degenerative lesions.
Two elements can be affected by this wear: first, the menisci, these crescent-shaped structures whose role is to stabilize the joint while absorbing shocks. Then there is the cartilage that covers the ends of the bones (tibia and femur) and allows smooth movement.
