When pain in the lower back persists, keeps recurring or radiates into a leg, questions often arise: Where do the symptoms come from? Which examinations are useful? And what treatment options are available?
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Neurosurgery Bethanien, Dr. med. Bertrand Actor and PD Dr. med. Carl Izumi Muroi provide an understandable insight into the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the lumbar spine. They explain which options are available without surgery and when a surgical procedure may be considered. No prior medical knowledge is required.
The topics of the lecture:
From symptoms to diagnosis
What causes can be behind persistent or radiating back pain and how are these medically assessed?
Treatment options without surgery
What role do physiotherapy, medication and pain therapy treatments play?
When surgery is considered
When can a procedure be useful and which requirements, decision-making factors and surgical procedures play a role?
The evening explains how symptoms, examination results and previous treatments are considered together in the medical assessment.
During the subsequent apéritif, you will have the opportunity to address questions from the lecture and speak personally with the speakers.
Participation is free of charge.
