General Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine: Opening of a Medical Center in Fribourg
Starting September 1, 2026, Clinique Générale will expand its outpatient services with the opening of a new Medical Center at 4 Rue Georges-Jordil in Fribourg.
Open to the entire population, regardless of insurance coverage, the center will see patients by appointment for consultations in general internal medicine, sports medicine, and manual medicine.
Comprehensive, Community-Based Care
At a time when access to a general practitioner is becoming increasingly difficult, the Medical Center addresses the growing need for primary care. Its integrated approach allows the center to support patients at every stage of their care journey, from prevention to diagnosis, and from treatment to follow-up.
The medical team also treats musculoskeletal conditions and supports athletes in their sports, regardless of their skill level.
A Center Dedicated to Sports Medicine
The Medical Center aims to significantly expand its sports medicine services and become a leading provider in this field in the canton of Fribourg.
Dr. Damien Casagrande, an FMH specialist in general internal medicine and certified in sports medicine and manual medicine, supports athletes ranging from amateurs to elite competitors. Consultations focus on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries, as well as support for a safe return to sports.
An Experienced and Complementary Team
The Medical Center will bring together three FMH-certified specialists in general internal medicine who are well-established within the Fribourg medical community:
- Dr. Damien Casagrande, who is also certified in sports medicine and manual medicine. Very active in the sports community, he serves as the team physician for the Swiss national A soccer team and is a member of the medical staff for Fribourg Olympic, the Fribourg Soccer Association, and the Frispike National Volleyball Performance Center.
- Dr. Sophie Mantelli, who has extensive experience in clinical ultrasound. A former chief resident in internal medicine at HFR Fribourg, she is also a family physician and coordinator of the Fribourg Family Medicine Program at the University of Fribourg.
