Robot-assisted surgery: Our experts in an interview with the Schweizer Hausapotheke
Robot-assisted surgery is becoming increasingly important in orthopedics, particularly for knee procedures. In an interview with Schweizer Hausapotheke, Dr. med. Felix Paradies and Dr. med. Andreas von Roll explain how patients benefit from precision, careful planning, and individualized treatment.
Robotic orthopedics allows for millimeter-accurate cuts, precise implant placement, and optimal consideration of each patient’s individual anatomy. The robot serves as a highly precise tool: the physicians mark key landmarks on the bone, plan each step of the procedure, and can immediately review the results. Patients benefit from less invasive procedures, faster recovery, and fewer postoperative complications.
Not every procedure is suitable for robot-assisted techniques. The advantages of robotics are particularly evident in complex deformities or severe misalignments. However, the specialists emphasize that responsibility always remains with the human surgeon. The robot assists but does not replace surgical expertise.
