First minimally invasive procedure with customised fenestrated aortic prosthesis

The Swiss CardioVascularClinic (CVC) at Privatklinik Bethanien reached a medical milestone at the end of August: for the first time, a complex, extensive aortic aneurysm was successfully treated minimally invasively with a customised fenestrated aortic prosthesis. This procedure represents a significant development in the treatment of complex aortic diseases.

It marks an important step in the sustainable further development of cutting-edge medicine in the field of cardiovascular care. For patients, this means above all less stress, faster recovery and shorter hospital stays.

Teamwork is the key

The procedure was made possible by the close and smooth collaboration of an interdisciplinary team from cardiology, angiology, cardiovascular surgery and anaesthesia. Dr Erik Walter Holy, Dr Philipp Ghibu, Prof. Paul Robert Vogt, Dr Beat Hardmeier, Dr Florian Hardt, Madeleine Beyer and Irina Vedzizhev were all involved.
