Diagnosis for better treatment: the theranostic revolution is coming to a place near you

More precise, more targeted medicine — and now available near you

You may have heard of theranostics — this as yet little-known term that is transforming the way certain cancers are diagnosed and treated. The good news is that this approach will be available at the Clinique de Genolier this autumn.

What is theranostics?

Theranostics is a combination of two words: therapeutic and diagnostic. In practice, this means using the same molecule first to pinpoint the location of cancer cells in the body, and then to target them with a highly localised treatment — whilst sparing healthy tissue as much as possible.

This approach is currently used in particular for prostate cancer and certain rare tumours (such as neuroendocrine tumours), and its scope of application continues to expand.

Why is this important for you?

Fewer side effects. Treatments better suited to your individual situation. Medical decisions based on what is actually happening in your body, not just on general statistics.

This is no longer medicine of the future — it is today’s medicine, available at the Clinique de Genolier, part of the Swiss Medical Network.

In June 2026, international experts in molecular imaging and theranostics gathered at the Genolier Innovation Hub for the “Above the Summit” symposium, organised in partnership with GE HealthCare. The Clinique de Genolier was at the heart of these discussions, driven by Swiss Medical Network’s commitment to integrating medical innovation for the direct benefit of its patients.
