Privatklinik Siloah sets new standards throughout Europe for knee prostheses with the Sigma HP Partial Knee System
Gümligen, 4 June 2025 - Privatklinik Siloah, a member of the Swiss Medical Network, is one of the first clinics in Europe to perform the innovative Sigma Partial VRAS procedure using the state-of-the-art Sigma HP Partial Knee System from Johnson & Johnson. This minimally invasive, robot-assisted surgical technique offers a new dimension in the treatment of partial knee arthrosis - with the aim of more precise implantation, shorter recovery times and a better quality of life for patients.
The Sigma HP Partial Knee System is specially designed for patients with unilateral osteoarthritis of the knee. The implants adapt precisely to the natural anatomy of the knee and help to improve mobility and protect surrounding tissue. In combination with VRAS technology (Virtual Robotic Alignment System), a robotic assistance system for precise alignment of the implant, the procedure ensures customised positioning with millimetre precision. The VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution, an advanced surgical system from Johnson & Johnson that enables dynamic intraoperative planning through real-time feedback, is used for this.
Prof Graichen, MD, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Privatklinik Siloah, explains: «The Sigma HP system offers a gentle alternative to total knee replacement. With robotic assistance, we minimise risks such as leg length discrepancies, reduce surgical stress for the patient and promote faster, less painful rehabilitation. For our patients, this means shorter hospital stays, less pain and a quicker return to everyday life.»
Cédric Bossart, Regional Director Mittelland, Swiss Medical Network, emphasises the strategic importance of this technology: «The introduction of the Sigma Partial VRAS procedure at Privatklinik Siloah impressively demonstrates how we at Swiss Medical Network harmonise innovation and patient well-being. Robot-assisted surgery is a central component of our strategy to utilise state-of-the-art technologies in a targeted manner in order to increase the quality of treatment throughout Switzerland.»
With the introduction of the Sigma Partial VRAS procedure, Privatklinik Siloah is consolidating its position as the leading clinic for innovative orthopaedic surgery in Switzerland and Europe. The clinic combines the latest medical technology with personalised, holistic care, setting a pioneering standard for the future of arthroplasty.
