Swiss Medical Network is the first major Swiss hospital group to implement AI across the board in medical documentation

Genolier, 17 June 2026 – Swiss Medical Network, one of Switzerland’s leading private hospital groups, is rolling out AI-supported documentation across the group. By implementing the Heidi platform, the group is taking a pioneering role in the meaningful integration of artificial intelligence into everyday clinical practice – thereby freeing up to two hours a day for doctors.

Clinical documentation, reports and billing documents currently account for a significant proportion of doctors’ working hours. Swiss Medical Network is addressing this challenge with a decisive move towards digitalisation: following an intensive evaluation phase, the group has selected Heidi as its strategic partner – an AI platform that transcribes consultations in real time, structures the information and prepares it as a draft for clinical documentation. Diagnosis, interpretation and treatment decisions remain entirely with the doctors.

«In the past, after a full working day, there was often still one to two hours of administrative work left to do. That has now almost disappeared.» Oscar Matzinger, Chief Medical Officer, Swiss Medical Network.

The rapid acceptance by the medical teams was crucial to the success of the roll-out. Unlike many IT projects in the healthcare sector, Heidi was met with open arms right from the start, as the benefits are immediately apparent in day-to-day practice. Swiss Medical Network sets the highest standards for data protection and patient safety: all voice recordings are deleted immediately after transcription, and all AI-generated drafts are reviewed and approved by a doctor before being filed. The solution fully complies with the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) and the Swiss Medical Devices Ordinance (MepV).

«We do not impose IT systems on our teams; instead, we provide them with intelligent tools that noticeably improve their day-to-day clinical work from day one.» Patrick Bizeau, Chief Information Officer, Swiss Medical Network.

«Our partnership with Swiss Medical Network demonstrates how AI can be integrated into day-to-day work in a meaningful and clinically sound way. By supporting documentation processes in the background, we free up time and capacity for doctors.» Dr Tom Kelly, CEO and Co-Founder, Heidi.

Swiss Medical Network will continue to systematically develop the use of AI in day-to-day clinical practice. The group-wide roll-out of Heidi is a first, groundbreaking step in this process – with the aim of providing long-term relief for medical teams and ensuring that the time saved is used entirely for the benefit of patients.
