When your vision becomes blurred with age...

Presbyopia: an inevitable stage of life... but not without solutions.

Goethe said: « The only way to escape presbyopia is to die young. »  A strong statement, but true: with age, we all lose the ability to see well up close.

Around the age of 42, the lens of the eye becomes less flexible and can no longer adjust. Reading a book, using the phone or working at a computer becomes more difficult.

What can be done about it?

  • Glasses (reading glasses or varifocals)
  • Contact lenses (multifocal or monovision)
  • Presbyopia surgery:
    • Laser (presbyLASIK)
    • Intraocular implants (as used in cataract surgery)

Dr Aleksandra Petrovic, FMH specialist in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery:

« We cannot stop presbyopia, but we can compensate for it in a personalised way thanks to increasingly advanced technologies.»
