What small dietary change can have a significant impact on health?

«It’s not about eating perfectly. What matters are a few practical, realistic habits that can be maintained in the long term. Even small changes can help reduce the risk factors for non-communicable diseases and promote long-term health.»

Five simple recommendations

  1. Make water your main drink – Replace sugary drinks with water or unsweetened drinks wherever possible.
  2. Eat more fruit and vegetables – Ideally five portions a day – three portions of vegetables and two portions of fruit.
  3. Choose wholegrain products – Wholemeal bread, brown rice or wholemeal pasta help boost your fibre intake.
  4. Include plant-based protein sources – regularly include lentils, chickpeas, beans or tofu in your diet.
  5. Cut down on highly processed foods – Opt for fresh and, where possible, unprocessed foods.
